The story opens with your transfer to the Special Enquiry Detail. A young woman from the Phelps family is found dead, and the parents act oddly calm as the inquiry begins. A dubbed comics video sets the tone before you step into busy New York locations. From there, the plot unfolds as you track leads and piece together what really happened.
Gameplay centers on searching detailed scenes for listed objects that are crucial to the case. You examine the crime scene, explore new areas, and collect items that unlock the next steps. Dialogs and brief scenes connect locations, while hints help when an item is hard to find. Progress comes from clearing tasks and returning with the right evidence.
